Our distillery
Artisan Distillery "PÚRO Karathanos" is a small sophisticated distillery, housed in an old family farm warehouse that has been transformed into an ultramodern industrial area of high aesthetics (designed by the architect professor of the University of Thessaly, Spyros Papadopoulos).
You can see:
01. The distillery
With alempic (distillery machine) and stainless tanks for the collection of fresh spirits.
02. The alempic
which was designed on our own idea and was first made in Greece especially for the needs of our distillery, from the copperworks “Chalkos – Theofilos Pavlidis”.
03. The beverage production area
where there is the appropriate mechanical equipment and the treatments for the preparation of alcoholic beverages.
04. The bottling area
where there are all the necessary bottling machines and the treatment of water that is of particular importance for the tasty characteristics of the spirits.
05. The cellar
under controlled conditions, which is of particular importance, since here is the aging of spirits, dozens of barrels, new oak French in their vast majority, different species, wood origin, mode and burning time. Some of the old barrels are processed by us, giving them the desired characteristics.
06. The laboratory
where qualitative and organoleptic control of spirits is carried out and perhaps the most important stage in the production process: the assessment of the quality of the various barrels, the mixes to be made and the decision on the composition of the final product.
07. The tasting room
where visitors, friends and collaborators have the chance to taste at the place of production, one of the most rare and difficult-to-find spirits.
